It's That Time of Year - Christmas Cards!
I'm so excited to share this design! I'm so loving the possibilities of trifold cards. It was so much fun to shoot and it is the boys to a T!

Storyboards!
I've fallen off the blogging wagon again I know - but I've been working on some really great projects.
A client of mine gave me a challenge - come up with a storyboard (collage) of all the photo shoots we've done. Here's why it was a challenge - the majority was on film and black and white. I had to mull it over for a little while - but I love the finished version. They are 3 20x24 standouts (images mounted on 3/4 board ready to hang) - one for each of the boys and one of them together.

Your going to get tired of seeing these boys - but I can't wait to show off the Christmas card we came up with this year - coming up next!

Family Fun Week
The Sjursen girls and their families all spend a week at my parents in the summer. It's a lot of people (11) going in a lot of different directions at the same time! This year my Aunt Jane, her husband David and cousin Sanna (not to be confused with baby Sanna) were here as well. We ended the week celebrating Gram's 93rd birthday.
First up Kai

His brother Cooper

The indomitable Dorrie

And her sister baby Sanna

These two are exactly 11 months apart and adore each other - so funny to watch them interact!

So while the ladies were all out getting pedicures the Dads got to work. They taped a hose to the top of the slide, added a kiddy pool to the bottom and then a tube - so you could slide out of the pool and onto the tube - boys loved it!

Dorrie took a little more time to warm up to the idea - here she is contemplating the journey - she took it. :)

Sanna hanging on the swing with her mom while all the action happens around her.

It was a busy busy week- beaches, boating, dinners at the beach, hallmark's ice cream - oh and little fishing trip. I also realized the curse of having the swing set right outside my window. Seriously - who would have thought swings at 7am would be such a big attraction!

Chchch Changes..
I've avoided putting this out for quite some time. I wanted to be really sure of my decision before I made any announcement. For those of you who don't know, I moved my headquarters back to Old Lyme this past winter. It was a tough decision but one I knew had to be done. I still work in the Wilton, Ridgefield, Westport area - I'm just not there full time anymore. This leads me to the next change. For the time being I will no longer be accepting weddings. I am going to exclusively focus on my children's location portraiture. Keep a look out for some changes in that area and hopefully a new website too. In the meantime I have images from Elise's wedding this winter cominig up (she's been patient and deserves a little of the spot light!) and some other projects I've been working on. Stay Tuned!

Killer Christmas Card
I'm so excited that my friend Lisa decided to go with this holiday card. It's a first for me - a 5x5 trifold card.
Here's the front

then the inside front flap

And now for the inside

I love it - tell me what you think.
ps - I didn't show the back of the front - it's the solid red color shown through out the card

Sylvie
I originally photographed Sylvie about 2 years ago on the beach. She's growing up now - caught between girlhood and teenager - which you can definitely see in the images - so we decided to do something a little different. We went down to SoNo and had a fun Urban shoot - I love the finished images. (This is also the session that I called a beggar Baby.)

Henley also needed an updated image - he was just a puppy last time!

Bobby!
Finally catching up on some posts - 1st up Bobby. I met Bobby, his mom and aunt in the park one windy afternoon. He wasn't always so sure of the whole process - but I think in the end he had a good time. He certainly had many expressions!

I love this one!

Pure Fun!

Jen and Brian II - The Guestbook
Ok I admit I've been holding out on showing more images from the session with Jen and Brian. I was secretly creating a custom guestbook for their wedding and wanted to surprise them with the whole finished album - I think I succeeded! I love this album and it was so fun to make. So without out further ado here are a few of my favorite layouts.

PS - This was the package I was waiting ALL DAY for from UPS!

Sneak Peak - Jen and Brian
Here's a quick sneak peak of Jen and Brian's engagement shoot. (I promise I'll have more soon!) Jen and Brian were so easy to work with (and Hudson too). We were at Fort Williams in South Portland, ME. It's a really neat place, lots of fun old buildings and structures to play with.
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Crushing on My New Bag
Is it possible to have a crush on a handbag? I had this bag custom made for me a few weeks ago. It arrived this past weekend - just in time for Mother's Day. I'm loving it! Maybe I'm biased - that cute adorable face is my niece almost exactly one year ago - look at those cheeks! I can't wait to show it off to the family at large and the world this coming Memorial Day weekend.

Think Big!
I'm so excited to share this with you. I recently had two images printed on canvas and I love them!! It was like Christmas morning the day I received them. They were waiting at my front door the friday of the last nor'easter before I was even awake and walking the dogs. I quickly walked the dogs and tore in to the packaging - wow was all I could say. I was as thrilled as a little kid on christmas morning and the feeling lasted all day.
Here's an image of one in a room (it's 20"x24" and yes that is the teddy bear my grandfather gave me when I was born).

Isn't wonderful!
And here is a close up.

A Day With Dorrie
Winter is usually a time for wedding and portrait photographers to prepare for the new year, take workshops and experiment a little. I have long wanted to offer Day in the Life sessions, but I needed to do a test run first - figure out what the logistics are, was there anything I was forgetting, how can I make this the best experience possible etc... I found a few things out actually - but the biggest is time coverage and having a plan of the day. I've decided I'm going to offer 4, 6 and 8 hour coverage. For the smaller children (who aren't as busy) 4-6 hours may be just perfect while for the older child with lots of activites 6-8 would work better.
Well my test subject (who I adore and is adorable) was my niece Dorrie. Here she is first thing in the morning

And here is one of my favorite series of the day - she gets soo mad while she's trying to figure something out - I'm sure she's swearing in gibberish.

To say that she's expressive would be an understatement!

To view the whole day you can visit Dorrie in my client galleries section. The gallery expires May 1st.

Spring is in the Air
Saturday's weather was definitely spring like. As I was walking the dogs I got to thinking about Spring. I love how everything is fresh, new and hopeful and then I got to thinking about love. No wonder why new love is always a spring thing - it embodies everything spring. So going with things fresh and new I'd like to announce my webshots! These are images for those of you on the dating scene - doing the match.com and eharmony.com thing. I'm looking to promote love this Spring. Email or call me for the details.

Angie's List
Ooh I'm a blogging fool today but I just had to pass this on. My sister has been telling me about Angie's list for about a year now. It's an online resource for just about any service you can think of - from handyman to babysitting agency. The only way to be a referred vendor is to have a past client refer you - ie I can't put myself on but one of my brides could. They even have a dog house and mediation area so you know who to avoid. Well they've just started a New York - Fairfield County area list and I'm really excited. I signed up the other day - I've been trying to find a drycleaner forever! Check them out at Angie's List

A beautiful beach night!
The night before I left for Chicago (more about that later) I photographed Jane and Cory down at Compo Beach in Westport. It was a beautiful classic summer evening at the beach - great sunset, light breeze everything an evening at the beach should be. We got some wonderful images - Cory and Jane were up for anything - climbing rocks, standing in the sea grass and lounging outside the locker rooms. Couldn't have asked for a better night.

Dorrie's First Swim

I'm on vacation with the entire family (Parents, Siblings, Newphews and Niece) in sunny FLA. We rented a house with a pool and beach access for 2 weeks. After the first few days I can already tell the only ones coming out alive are the kids. Who would have thought a 3, 1 1/2 and 6 month old would totally take down 5 adults in 4 days! The reinforcements are coming this weekend (Brother-in-Laws)! I was primed and ready to get Dorrie's reaction for her first swim - little stella star gave a winner!

Fun Family!

I just finished the post production on the images for the Weeks family and wanted to share my favorite image. They were all game to go out and stand on the dock on a very cold but very pretty winter day and I just love this image!
