Exciting Things in the Hopper

I've got some great projects in the works - one of them is a new logo - which should be premiering the beginning of the new year - so excited! I'm also in the beginning stages of developing a new website - I'm planning on going big and bold with the images, showing more storyboards and planning a section for albums. I'm not leaving the blog behind, it too will be getting a whole new look. I'm just finishing putting together all my new plans for 2009 - big and exciting things are coming!

See You in January

Tomorrow I leave to spend Christmas Eve with my family and then I'm off for 3 weeks to New Zealand. I was an exchange student to NZ 20 years ago and will be spending my time catching up with family and friends. I get back at the god awful time of 12:05 am at Logan Airport on January 17th. Best way to reach me will be by email at jennie@jsjursen.com - I can't promise a quick reply, just that I'll try. So see you in Jan - hopefully with a nice summer glow!

Dang Email!

My email was all out of whack yesterday. So if you tried to contact me I received nothing. As far as the tech guys can tell all of yesterdays mail is lost in space. They tell me the internet is funny that way and it just happens... Makes you wonder where all those lost emails go to and do they recombine themselves into completely different messages? Also is there one poor guy who receives all these lost messages... In short - if you don't hear back from me please contact me again!

WPJA and ME

Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) is an elite association for wedding photographers with a phojournalistic style. It is very hard to get into and you have to maintain your standards to stay in - all in all a big deal. Many people don't get in the first time around. So a few weeks ago I decided to apply - I thought that if I don't try I'll never know, plus I can always apply again later. You are only contacted when accepted - so several weeks had past and I figure - well ok will work on it and try again in a few months. Imagine my surprise when I checked my email just before running out the door for a shoot to see my acceptance email! I was shocked - I had already resigned myself to the fact I hadn't gotten in. I was shocked and thrilled! You can check out all the other great photographers and wedding resources at www.wpja.com - I'm looking forward to a wonderful partnership!

Crushing on My New Bag

Is it possible to have a crush on a handbag? I had this bag custom made for me a few weeks ago. It arrived this past weekend - just in time for Mother's Day. I'm loving it! Maybe I'm biased - that cute adorable face is my niece almost exactly one year ago - look at those cheeks! I can't wait to show it off to the family at large and the world this coming Memorial Day weekend.

Show the World YOUR Beautiful

I've been doing a lot of self discovery over the last year. One of the ways that I've gone about that is to do The Artist Way. It's a book about self discovery and unblocking your creativity. I'm really learning a lot and one of those things that I have learned is that everyone has something all their own that is beautiful. It can be their smile, the sparkle in their eyes, a dimple etc... So with that in mind I've added the new tag line "Show the World Your Beautiful". I know it's not grammatically correct but I want to know what it is that make you shine.

I love my eyes (other people who know me will say it's my laugh - but that's not visual!) So here is a self portrait of my eyes - not the easiest thing I've done - I'm wearing glasses over contacts, but you get the point.

Share with me what your beautiful is.

Think Big!

I'm so excited to share this with you. I recently had two images printed on canvas and I love them!! It was like Christmas morning the day I received them. They were waiting at my front door the friday of the last nor'easter before I was even awake and walking the dogs. I quickly walked the dogs and tore in to the packaging - wow was all I could say. I was as thrilled as a little kid on christmas morning and the feeling lasted all day.

Here's an image of one in a room (it's 20"x24" and yes that is the teddy bear my grandfather gave me when I was born).

Isn't wonderful!

And here is a close up.

Working with ROAR and Blue Buffalo

I'm really happy to announce that I'm working on a project with ROAR, a wonderful animal rescue program in Ridgefield and Blue Buffalo, a pet food company that is changing the industry - for the better of course! We're working on a fundraiser set for the latter half of the year. When all the final details get hammered out I'll post the info here - in the meantime check them out and see what great work they're doing.
